Under no circumstances should an athlete take more than four tablets in any given day, preferrably never more than three. When taking Anadrol for the first time the athelete should begin with an intake of only one 50 mg tablet. After one week the daily dosage can be increased to two tablets, one tablet each in the morning and evening, taken with meals. Higher dosages should not be taken for periods longer than two to three weeks. Any use of Oxydrolone should not exceed six weeks. After discontinuing Anadrol, it is important to continue steroid treatment with another compound since, otherwise, a drastic reduction of muscle mass and strength takes place. Oxydrolone is the most harmful oral steroid and its intake can cause many considerable side effects. Most users can expect certain pathological changes in their liver values after approximately one week. Those who discontinue the use of oxymetholone will usually show normal values within two months. Oxymetholone is the only anabolic/androgenic steroid, which is linked with liver cancer.
The Oxymetholone hormone known, as Oxydrolone, is a dihydrotestosterone (DHT) derived anabolic steroid that is closely related to methyldihydrotestosterone. Specifically, Oxymetholone is DHT with an added 2-hydroxymethylene group, which greatly enhances its anabolic activity. It is also a C17-alpha alkylated (C17-aa) anabolic steroid. This refers to a structural change of the hormone at the 17th carbon position that allows it to be orally ingested. Without the change the majority of the hormone would be destroyed before any benefit could be obtained. Unfortunately, this also makes Oxydrolone toxic to the liver (see side effects section). Anadrol carries an extremely high anabolic rating that is three times greater than testosterone. However, its androgenic rating is rather low, but also a bit misleading. Oxydrolone has a tendency to be more androgenic than its rating would imply. The metabolism of this steroid easily removes the 2-hydroxymethylene group, at least in part, thereby reducing the hormone to methyldihdrotestosterone.
